Conferences

Scientific conferences and seminars are organised at Ventspils University of Applied Sciences annually.

As of May 2003, at the end of each academic year, the students’ scientific conference, Current Developments in National Economy, Translation, and Technology, takes place, providing students with the opportunity to present their achievements in research activities.

Every year before Christmas, the Ventspils University of Applied Sciences Christmas Conference takes place, in which the Ventspils University of Applied Sciences and its lecturers and researchers look back at the accomplishments of the year.

At the end of April, an international conference jointly organised by three partner universities – Ventspils University of Applied Sciences (VUAS), BA School of Business and Finance, and Riga International School of Economics and Business Administration – takes place, and lecturers and doctoral students from the cooperating universities and representatives from partner universities in Europe present their papers.

At the same time, regular conferences and seminars are held in the framework of the projects implemented by VUAS.

Conferences in 2022

 3 - 4 November, 2022

International Interdisciplinary Scientific Conference "Linguistic Diversity, Terminology and Statistics" 3 - 4 November, 2022


The conference participants will be addressed by keynote speakers followed by conference sections bringing together researchers in: 

  • linguistics (various aspects in linguistics and translation), 
  • terminology (with emphasis on specialized biology lexis and terminology), 
  • language technology and 
  • lexicography.

 

Researchers on similar topics related to linguistic diversity, terminology, and statistics are also welcome to apply.

The conference languages: English, German, Russian, Latvian.


Simultaneous translation for selected presentations will be provided by the Faculty of Translation Studies of Ventspils University of Applied Sciences.


If the presentation is in a language other than English, slides should be provided in English.
The conference proceedings are planned to be published. Articles should be submitted in English.

There is no participation fee in this Conference.

12-13 September, 2019

The Translation Studies Faculty of Ventspils University of Applied Sciences, Latvia,
is pleased to invite you to the second international interdisciplinary conference
“Bridging Languages and Cultures” held on 12-13 September, 2019.
The conference participants will be addressed by distinguished keynote speakers followed by conference sections bringing together researchers in:
  • linguistics,
  • translation,
  • interpreting,
  • intercultural studies.
  • The conference languages are English and German.
The conference will be held in a beautiful seaside city Ventspils on the coast of the Baltic Sea along the Amber Trail. The city features a progressive attitude towards innovations, it is tourist-friendly, tidy, and attractive to both nature and urban fans.

21 - 23 August, 2019

On August 21-23, 2019, Ventspils University of Applied Sciences Institute of Engineering “Ventspils International Radio Astronomy Center” is organizing the sixth annual international conference “Applied Astroinformatics and Space Data Processing in the Baltics” / “Baltic Applied Astroinformatics and Space data Processing” (BAASP). It is a business and scientific conference in the Baltic region, where scientists will discuss current problems in astrophysics, interdisciplinary solutions in information and data processing related to space and space object observations, including solar and Earth observations and remote sensing from artificial satellites.
The main topics of the conference are:
  • Space research;
  • Space technology;
  • Space and industrial IT solutions.
