This course is designed to introduce students to linguistics as a field of scientific study of human language, including an introduction to theoretical and applied linguistics, its subfields, such as morphology, phonetics, phonology, syntax, semantics, sociolinguistics, cognitive linguistics, and contrastive linguistics, and to describe the basic elements of language
