COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is designed to help students master the basics of the Spanish language, broaden their horizons, and acquire the language skills necessary for everyday communication in situations involving the following topics: introductions, interests, studies, transportation, clothing, health, daily routine, etc.
CONTENT
1. Phonetic Principles of the Spanish Language.
2. Definite and indefinite articles. Grammatical gender and number. Sentence structure in Spanish.
3. Verbs “SER” and “ESTAR”. Verb “TENER”.
4. The impersonal form “HAY”. Usage of the verbs SER, ESTAR, TENER, and HAY.
5. Regular verbs: simple present tense (presente de indicativo). Possessive pronouns.
6. Prepositions. The verbal construction “TENER QUE + INFINITIVE”
7. The action verbs "ir" and "venir." The verbal construction for the near future is "ir a + infinitive."
8. Irregular verbs.
9. Present participle (gerundio). Present continuous constructions (estar + gerundio).
10. Past participle (participio). Compound past perfect tense.
11. Irregular past participles. Past participles used as adjectives.
12. Reflexive pronouns. Interrogative adverbs.
13. The "Pretérito indefinido" tense.
14. "Pretérito imperfecto" tense.
15. A comparison of the use of past tenses — "pretérito indefinido," "pretérito imperfecto," and "pretérito perfecto compuesto."
16. An overview of the course content.
