Project's summary:

The NextTechTalents project aims to address these gaps by creating a robust talent ecosystem for researchers that fully aligns with the European Research Area’s (ERA) goals of promoting attractive, sustainable research careers, enhancing mobility, and improving career development pathways. By connecting academic institutions, research performing organisations, industry, and public sector entities, the project will provide early-stage researchers (R1 and R2) with the skills, mobility, and collaborative opportunities required to meet the demands of the European labour market, particularly in high-demand areas such as digital transformation, the Green Deal, and deep tech.

Project goals:

  1. Enhance the employability of early career researchers and interoperability between sectors as a result of improved skills and competencies
  2. Consolidating knowledge on limitations and barriers for early-stage researchers, including investment barriers, access to funds and capital, visibility, and partnerships creation
  3. Enhance the employability and mobility of early-stage researchers through tailored training and mentorship programs, improving their alignment with labour market needs
  4. Implement and continuously refine training systems and career development frameworks through real-world validation and feedback
  5. Mainstream the ResearchComp framework and the European Charter for researchers across all participating organisations in addition to promoting diversity and inclusiveness
  6. Maximise the dissemination and exploitation of project results to ensure sustainable impact and stakeholder engagement

Results:

  1. A well-established talent ecosystem connecting academia, industry, and public sector entities, promoting seamless mobility and career development for early-stage researchers, enabling the smooth exchange of talent and knowledge.
  2. Comprehensive training systems and materials aligned with market demands, particularly in high-demand or emerging technologies such as AI, digital transformation, ensuring researchers acquire the skills needed to thrive in emerging industries.
  3. Improved employability and skill set for early stage researchers, for better alignment with labor market needs.
  4. Inclusive recruitment and training practices, addressing gender & diversity barriers, ensuring equal access to career opportunities.
  5. Policy feedback and best practices, providing guidance for the future implementation of European frameworks like the European Charter for Researchers and ResearchComp.
