The project will include technological upgrades of study spaces, equipment renovation, and digital infrastructure improvements, with special attention paid to integrating information and communication technologies (ICT) into the study process. The availability of both face-to-face, distance, and hybrid studies will be improved, strengthening the quality and flexibility of education.

The main planned activities:

  • Modernization of laboratories, classrooms and group work spaces – physics, electronics and signal processing laboratories, classrooms will be improved and three new group work spaces will be created, which will ensure an effective collaboration format in student projects and online lectures;
  • Purchase of computer equipment, hardware, visual aids, technical equipment and instruments – by renewing outdated equipment, equipment will be purchased that ensures compliance with current STEAM requirements;
  • Modernization of server infrastructure – ensuring stable, secure and energy-efficient operation of central information systems, including e-study platforms, progress tracking and learning materials management systems, as well as user authentication and centralized data storage.

The implementation of the project will create the basis for a flexible, sustainable, and digitalized study environment, in which students will be able to acquire practical skills, work with current industry technologies, and engage in interdisciplinary and research projects. Opportunities for cooperation with industry and research institutions will be expanded, which is essential for preparing specialists relevant to the labour market.

Planned results:

  • Study facilities will be modernized with a total capacity of up to 52 students;
  • The number of users of the modernized infrastructure will reach at least 72 students per year;
  • A higher-quality study process offer for people with mobility impairments will be improved - accessibility for students with mobility impairments will significantly improve.
  • A fully functional and secure IT infrastructure will be created that supports modern e-learning and data management.

As a result of the project implementation, VeA will strengthen itself as a significant regional and national player in the field of engineering and ICT education. The improved study environment will help attract new students from both Latvia and abroad, while ensuring a competitive education that meets the requirements of the future labour market.

Ventspils University of Applied Sciences has launched work on the project “ Modernization of the Study Environment at Ventspils University of Applied Sciences ”, with significant focus placed on upgrading physics laboratories and improving the overall study environment. The aim of the project is to provide a modern, technologically advanced, and student-oriented study environment, with particular emphasis on strengthening the material and technical base of engineering and information technology study programmes. As part of the modernization, substantial improvements to the equipment in the physics laboratories are planned. Various teaching and research devices, technical equipment, and new furniture will be purchased to ensure an ergonomic and functional working environment for students. These improvements will provide students with the opportunity to acquire practical knowledge by working with technologies and equipment currently relevant in the industry. The modern laboratories will promote the development of experimental skills, deeper understanding of physical processes, and better prepare students for labour market demands, where practical skills and the ability to work with modern technologies are becoming increasingly important. Preparatory work for the project is currently actively underway, including the development of technical specifications and the planning of procurement procedures for laboratory equipment, devices, and furniture. This is an essential stage in ensuring a high-quality and purposeful modernization process. It is planned that the new equipment and improved study environment will be available to students already in the next academic year, offering the opportunity to study in an even more modern and technologically advanced environment. The total cost of the project “Modernization of the Study Environment at Ventspils University of Applied Sciences”, No. 4.2.1.8/2/25/I/007, is EUR 215,083.00, of which the planned funding from the European Regional Development Fund amounts to 85% of eligible costs – EUR 182,820.55, while state funding amounts to 15% of eligible costs – EUR 32,262.45.

Work continues at Ventspils University of Applied Sciences on the implementation of the project “ Modernization of the Study Environment at Ventspils University of Applied Sciences ”, which aims to improve learning infrastructure and provide a modern environment for the education process. As part of the project, significant preparatory work has already been completed – the first technical specification has been developed, and a procurement procedure for servers and their components will be announced very soon. Servers and their necessary components are critically important infrastructure for the operations of Ventspils University of Applied Sciences, as they ensure the digital environment for the study process, data storage, and the uninterrupted operation of information systems. Without such a technological foundation, a modern digital university is unimaginable. At the same time, the project team is actively working on the preparation of upcoming procurement procedures. Technical specifications are currently being developed for the acquisition of laboratory and classroom furniture, as well as various educational equipment intended for laboratory outfitting. These procurements will provide the necessary material and technical base to implement modern and practical learning solutions within the educational institution. During the implementation of the project, it is planned to gradually provide both digital infrastructure and the learning environment with the necessary equipment, thereby creating high-quality conditions for the study process and promoting the development of modern education. The total cost of the project “ Modernization of the Study Environment at Ventspils University of Applied Sciences ”, No. 4.2.1.8/2/25/I/007, is EUR 215,083.00, of which the planned funding from the European Regional Development Fund amounts to 85% of eligible costs – EUR 182,820.55, while state funding amounts to 15% of eligible costs – EUR 32,262.45.
