Macroeconomics

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Within the framework of the course, the student learns the basics of macroeconomics by studying the theoretical issues of the field and analyzing the current macroeconomic situation at the regional, national and international levels. At the end of the course, the student is familiar with current issues in macroeconomics and is able to discuss them freely, orient himself in the roles of different governmental structures in economic processes and is able to perform mathematical and statistical calculations in the field.

CONTENT

1.Introduction to macroeconomics.
2.Classical theory: the economy in the long run (national income, money and inflation and unemployment.
3.Growth theory: capital accumulation, population growth, technological development and economic policy.
4.Overview of Latvian macroeconomics according to classical and growth theories.
5.Macroeconomic markets.
6.Aggregate demand, fiscal and monetary policy, IS-LM model
7.Modern macroeconomic trends and projections.
