Fundamentals of remote sensing (master level)
3 ECTS
CODE: DatZM005
COURSE DESCRIPTION
The introductory part of the course is devoted to the analysis of the interaction of electromagnetic radiation with the surface of planets (including the Earth) and their atmospheres. The different types of spectral reflection and scattering, their physical basis and basic mathematical modelling methods are covered, as well as the interaction of radiation with gases and other atmospheric constituents. The main remote sensing technologies (multispectral and microwave techniques) and their application to geo-information retrieval from satellites and airborne platforms are then introduced. The course concludes with an analysis of the problems of interpretation of remote sensing data and their use in different areas of economic life.
