In 2020, Ventspils University of Applied Sciences will launch a free Latvian language training for remigrants, repatriated persons and their family members within a project funded by the Society Integration Foundation.

A remigrant is a person who has returned or moved from his / her country of residence to Latvia after a long absence and is a Latvian citizen, a non-citizen of Latvia, or a person who has been granted repatriation status or a person eligible for Latvian citizenship as well as their family members (child, parent or spouse) of the said person, if they return or move from their country of residence to Latvia with the said person.

The training will be held in small groups twice a week for six months from April 2020 at Ventspils University of Applied Sciences, giving participants the opportunity to learn online as well.

For more information and applying for trainings please contact Lifelong Learning Centre of Ventspils University of Applied Sciences, Inženieru Street 101, Ventspils or by calling 63629650 or writing to mic@venta.lv

Dear colleagues and friends, Last Thursday marked a dark moment in the history of Europe and the world as we became witness of a brutal and unprovoked act of war by Russia against a sovereign nation in the centre of Europe - Ukraine. We are deeply saddened by this. We at Ventspils University of Applied Sciences stand with the people of Ukraine at this difficult time and join the international community in condemning on the strongest possible terms the act of illegal aggression. We are prepared to offer every possible support within our means to staff, researchers and students at your institution. We are open look into the possibility to host your staff shorter or longer for periods of time. Once again - we stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine and our thoughts are with all those directly or indirectly impacted by this invasion. Yours sincerely, Dr. Karlis Kreslins Rector of the Ventspils University of Applied Sciences Foto: Shutterstock
