Brief Description of the Project and the Aim of the Project:
The research of the Latvian academic language in the intra-lingual aspect promotes the acquisition and use of a top-quality academic Latvian language in the national academic environment at various levels, incl. in schools, universities, research institutions, etc. There will be a written Latvian academic language digital corpus created within the project that will define the prerequisite for further research of the Latvian academic language and the academic discourse, as well in the international perspective. Results-based web page will contribute to the development of the academic culture. The web page and its mobile version will inform researchers from various science fields about the types of academic texts and their titles, as well as offer definitions and examples of the types of texts and also provide support in choosing the linguistic wording of various types of academic texts in Latvian. It will be used as an aid in writing academic researches, bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral theses.
The aim of the project is to research the macrostructure and microstructure of various primary Latvian academic texts from many scientific fields by using corpus linguistics approach, analysing phrases and other textual elements, in doing so, promoting qualitative Latvian academic language usage in the national academic environment and defining prerequisites for further research of academic discourse.
