Jun 28, 2021

Graduates of the class of 2021 received their diplomas and celebrated the conclusion of their studies on June 19th, next to the Ventspils University of Applied Sciences (VUAS) fountain “Lāsīte” (rain drop). More than 130 graduates from three faculties and 12 study programs were gathered at the VUAS' 21st summer graduation. The bachelor's degree program "Business Administration" had the most graduates this year, with 27.

The graduation took place in four segments, with the VUAS administration congratulating the new specialists at each one. While honoring the graduates, VUAS rector PhD Kārlis Krēsliņš reminded them that the doors of VUAS would always be open to them, and that they must continue to take use of the university's extensive study and lifetime learning opportunities even after graduation. Una Libkovska, Vice Rector for Studies and associate professor, praised the most bright graduates, whose average grade during their studies was at least 9in each graduation section. This year, 12 students were awarded with this honor.

Dear colleagues and friends, Last Thursday marked a dark moment in the history of Europe and the world as we became witness of a brutal and unprovoked act of war by Russia against a sovereign nation in the centre of Europe - Ukraine. We are deeply saddened by this. We at Ventspils University of Applied Sciences stand with the people of Ukraine at this difficult time and join the international community in condemning on the strongest possible terms the act of illegal aggression. We are prepared to offer every possible support within our means to staff, researchers and students at your institution. We are open look into the possibility to host your staff shorter or longer for periods of time. Once again - we stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine and our thoughts are with all those directly or indirectly impacted by this invasion. Yours sincerely, Dr. Karlis Kreslins Rector of the Ventspils University of Applied Sciences Foto: Shutterstock
