A Cooperation Agreement Signed with Ventspils City Council
On January 24, the Ventspils City Council and Ventspils University of Applied Sciences (VUAS) signed a long-term cooperation agreement aimed at promoting the development of higher education, science, and research in Ventspils and the region.
The purpose of the cooperation agreement is to strengthen VUAS as an internationally recognized center of higher education and research in the Baltic Sea region by enhancing the quality of study programs, fostering innovation, and attracting academic staff. Under the agreement, VUAS will continue developing its research infrastructure and the qualifications of its academic personnel, including closer collaboration with entrepreneurs and international partners. The council also plans to support scholarship programs—particularly in the field of ICT—and to offer internship placements for students in municipal institutions.
The Ventspils City Council actively supports the advancement of education and science. The cooperation agreement will remain in force until 2028 and is expected to contribute to the sustainable growth of the city’s economy and the implementation of innovation across various sectors.
Although VUAS is a state university, it was established and initially fully funded by the municipality. To date, the Ventspils City Council has invested over 19 million euros in the university’s development.
