Seminar on the Use of Artificial Intelligence Tools and Agents in Software Development and Radio Astronomy
The Engineering Research Institute “Ventspils International Radio Astronomy Centre” (VIRAC) of Ventspils University of Applied Sciences is organising the seminar “Artificial Intelligence Tools and Agents: Their Use in Software Development and Radio Astronomy Data Processing” to introduce the capabilities of artificial intelligence (AI) agents and their practical applications in the development of smart technologies and scientific research. The seminar will take place on 15 October at 10:30 and will be led by Jānis Šteinbergs, Scientific Assistant at VIRAC.

The seminar will cover the operating principles of AI agents, demonstrate the development of both simple and complex software applications using these agents, and explore software source code analysis, as well as the potential to obtain scientifically meaningful results through software execution and data processing. Participants will also learn about the principles of AI agent design and how agents can be tailored to solve specific tasks.
Particular attention will be paid to the application of AI in the processing of radio interferometric observation data, including data from the JIVE and LOFAR networks. In this field, AI agents can support the development and improvement of data analysis software while facilitating the handling of large-scale datasets. This opens new opportunities for creating more efficient research methods and intelligent technological solutions.
The rapid development of artificial intelligence and smart technologies is creating ever-expanding opportunities to automate complex processes, develop software, and analyse large volumes of scientific data. These capabilities are becoming especially important in radio astronomy, where radio interferometric observations and their processing require powerful computational solutions and advanced analytical approaches.
The information has been prepared within the framework of the project “International Cooperation and Innovation of Ventspils University of Applied Sciences for the Development of Latvia’s Smart Specialisation” (No. 1.1.1.5/3/25/I/012).
