Annual Education Awards 2024 Presented
On Wednesday, April 9, the event “Annual Education Award – 2024” took place, honouring educators from Ventspils educational institutions. Teachers were recognised in eight nomination categories, and acknowledgements were presented for lifetime achievements.
This year, 50 educators were nominated for the “Annual Education Award – 2024” from general and preschool education institutions in Ventspils, as well as the Creative House, Art School, Sports School “Spars,” Ventspils Digital Centre, Ventspils Technical School, Ventspils Music Secondary School, and Ventspils University of Applied Sciences. The nominations were evaluated by a committee formed by the Ventspils State City Municipality.
Awards were presented in the following eight categories:
- Teacher of the Year in STEM subjects
- Teacher of the Year in Cultural Education and Linguistics
- Teacher of the Year as a Promoter of a Healthy Lifestyle and Green Thinking
- Teacher of the Year as a Support Provider and Promoter of Civic Engagement
- Teacher of the Year in Vocational and Higher Education
- Teacher of the Year – Young Educator
- Teacher of the Year in Lifelong Learning
- Annual Education Award for Modern Educational Leadership
- Lifetime Achievement Acknowledgements
The "Teacher of the Year in Vocational and Higher Education" nomination was open to vocational education teachers/masters, or academic staff from higher education institutions who ensured an innovative and developmental education process in vocational and higher education. The leading award was presented to lecturer and director of the study program "Translation and Language Technologies", Aiga Bādere, and the second-tier award was given to lecturer and VIRAC researcher Karina Šķirmante.
“Lifetime Achievement Acknowledgements” were granted to educators who have carried out their professional work with dedication and quality over many years at a single educational institution. The acknowledgement was awarded to Ilze Buņķe, Advisor to the Rector on General and Vocational Education Cooperation Issues.
Congratulations, and we are proud!
Each recipient of the leading award also received a monetary prize of €700, while recipients of the second-tier award received €500 each.
The “Annual Education Award – 2024” event was organized by the Ventspils Education Board in cooperation with Ventspils Technical School, Ventspils Music Secondary School, Ventspils Digital Centre, and Ventspils University of Applied Sciences.
