On January 22 at 4:00 PM, the Ventspils University of Applied Sciences Library (Inženieru Street 101) will host a meeting with the author and scientist Manfreds Šneps-Šneppe. The event will bring together historians and other interested parties for a discussion about the historical events described in the book.
The author approaches historical events by trying to understand how the energy generated by people drives the wheels of history’s locomotive, rather than merely blowing the whistle. The book serves as a call to prevent ideological opponents from accusing us of dishonesty or hiding the truth, which, as history has shown, inevitably comes to light over time.
The book can be described as a collection of historical essays, united by the central theme of Latvia as a historical space, the chronological sequence of events, and the main characters—the four generations of the Baloži family, who played a significant role in the formation of the Latvian state.
The author, Dr. Sci. in Medical Engineering and habilitated Dr. Sci. in Telecommunications, is a State Emeritus Scientist and currently a leading researcher at the International Radio Astronomy Center. He has authored several books, including "A Long Life for Latvia" (2022), "Latgale: Reflections in the Mirror of History" (2020), and "Latvian Riflemen" (2017), among others. He continues his research work actively and is currently preparing a new book for publication.
