Faculty of Translation Studies Dean Participates in the “Translating Europe” Seminar
On 13 November, the Dean of the Faculty of Translation Studies of Ventspils University of Applied Sciences, Jānis Veckrācis, participated in the seminar “Translating Europe: The Changing Profile of the Translator in the Age of Artificial Intelligence”, held at the Europe House in Riga. The seminar brings together industry professionals and university lecturers on an annual basis and forms part of a series of events organised by the Representative Office of the European Commission in Riga.
Jānis Veckrācis delivered a presentation entitled “On Certain Old and New Editorial Features of Latvian Language Texts in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.”
In addition, the seminar addressed topics such as the use of AI translation tools in translation and interpreting and in working with terminology, issues related to the quality of machine-translated texts, the work of translators in the European Commission’s translation service, and current developments in the context of academic studies.
