Aspect of Latvian in Intercultural Communication

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The study course is included in the study programme for improving the overall Latvian skills of the students of the course.

CONTENT

1. Introductory issues. Topicalities and structure of the study course
2. Basic issues of Latvian orthography. Use of capital letters. Typical mistakes with explanations given. Word-combinations with forms of Genitive case
3. Most typical mistakes, recognition, grouping and correction of these errors in the domain of syntax
4. Most typical mistakes, recognition, grouping and correction of these errors in the stylistic aspect
5. Use of verb and participle forms in the functioning of the contemporary language practice
6. Abbreviations typical for contemporary Latvian. Verbosity. Hyphens, dashes, spaces in text
7. Documents in Latvian: content, placement of the information, spelling
