Graduation Ceremony Held and Prof. Juris Baldunčiks Scholarships Awarded for the First Time
The beginning of summer at Ventspils University of Applied Sciences (VUAS) was particularly busy, as bachelor's and master's thesis defences took place. A total of 129 graduates successfully defended their final theses and received their diplomas at a graduation ceremony held in the VUAS garden on June 20. The event was hosted by Juris Jope, while musician, songwriter, and lead singer of the band The Sound Poets, Jānis Aišpurs, provided the musical accompaniment.
This year, 129 students graduated from VUAS, 51 of them from the Faculty of Economics and Management, 37 from the Faculty of Translation Studies, and 47 from the Faculty of Information Technology. The largest number of graduates were in the bachelor's programs in Business Management, Translation and Language Technology, and Computer Science. The largest number of graduates this year were in the master's program in Business Management – 29.
During the ceremony, Vice Chancellor Liene Resele-Dūšele congratulated students who had achieved excellent results in their studies. Nine students received recognition:
- Mikus Petruss – Bachelor's program in "Business Management"
- Rota Rulle – Professional Master's program in "Business Management"
- Rimants Jeļinskis – Professional Master's program in "Business Management"
- Deniss Solovjovs – Bachelor's program in "Computer Science"
- Lara Cecilia Bernandes de Souza – Bachelor's program in "Computer Science"
- Anastasija Gremčuka – Professional Bachelor's program in "Translation and Language Technology"
- Irina Berestova – Professional Master's program in "Translation and Terminology"
- Ailenda Bulindža-Leitiete – Professional Master's Program "Translation and Terminology"
- Helēna Vilcāne-Ezera – Professional Master's Program "Strategic Intercultural Communication"
