Project Actively Engages PhD Candidates
Since August 2021, the Rezekne Academy of Technologies (RTA) has been implementing the project “Strengthening Academic Staff in Strategic Specialization Areas at RTA, VeA, and ViA” (Project No. 8.2.2.0/20/I/005). The PhD candidates Aleksejs Hiļķevičs and Artūrs Kokars are engaged as visiting research assistants in this project.
From July 25 to 29, PhD candidates A. Hiļķevičs and A. Kokars participated in the 9th International Scientific Symposium "Economics, Business & Finance", which took place in Jūrmala. A. Hiļķevičs presented his dissertation research on the topic "Macroeconomic and Microeconomic Aspects of Technology Transfer", while A. Kokars presented his research on "State Support Aspects in Latvian Aviation." The symposium was organized by the International Association of Researchers and Scientists in collaboration with the Institute of Research and International Symposiums (IRIS-ALKONA). This event provided both candidates with the opportunity to present and discuss their research findings with an international audience.
From September 14 to 15, the PhD candidates also attended the 15th International Business and Social Science Conference in Bangkok. Notably, the conference proceedings will be indexed in internationally recognized scientific databases, including Scopus and Web of Science (WoS).
On November 2, A. Kokars successfully presented his work to the dissertation committee. He is now focused on finalizing his research and preparing for his dissertation defense, which is scheduled for early 2024. His dissertation examines the public and private benefits of the aviation sector, with a particular emphasis on the economic, legal, and social dimensions of state support. The research aims to contribute to the development of Latvia's aviation industry and proposes recommendations to improve strategic decision-making regarding government support for the sector.
Meanwhile, PhD candidate A. Hiļķevičs is actively improving his dissertation based on feedback from the dissertation committee. He aims to present the final version for review in the near future.
