Self-development Seminar "Atspēriens" Organised by the Student Council of Ventspils University of Applied Sciences

May 02, 2022

In cooperation with the Ventspils Kultūras Centrs, the Student Council organised a self-development seminar "Atspēriens" on 23rd and 24th of April at the Youth House. During the event, students took part in various activities that allowed them to bond and learn new things.

On the first day of the event, students went to the Youth House early in the morning to discuss ideas on how to improve student life at Ventspils University of Applied sciences. The task was followed by two presentations, one about the opportunities offered by the Student Council and the other about how to make the most of the Erasmus+ opportunities offered at the university and how to apply for mobility. After lunch, Justine Širina, LSA ex-president and main organiser of the Student Leaders Forum 2021, gave a presentation on what it means to be a leader. After the lectures, the students were surprised by the Youth House with a prepared break-out room.

On the second day of the event, the main presentation was given by representatives of Swedbank, during which students learned how to save more successfully and what they need to know about financial literacy.

Aiva Kuršinska, one of the organisers of the event, says that despite a few hitches during the organisation of the event, she is happy that the participants enjoyed the event and that it was finally possible to organise it again after a two-year break.

The event was organised with the aim to allow students to learn more and bond with each other, and Aiva believes that it did just that!

Dear colleagues and friends, Last Thursday marked a dark moment in the history of Europe and the world as we became witness of a brutal and unprovoked act of war by Russia against a sovereign nation in the centre of Europe - Ukraine. We are deeply saddened by this. We at Ventspils University of Applied Sciences stand with the people of Ukraine at this difficult time and join the international community in condemning on the strongest possible terms the act of illegal aggression. We are prepared to offer every possible support within our means to staff, researchers and students at your institution. We are open look into the possibility to host your staff shorter or longer for periods of time. Once again - we stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine and our thoughts are with all those directly or indirectly impacted by this invasion. Yours sincerely, Dr. Karlis Kreslins Rector of the Ventspils University of Applied Sciences Foto: Shutterstock
