"Starry Night" Annual Award Ceremony 2022 has taken place

On Saturday, 17th of December at 6 PM, Ventspils University of Applied Sciences Annual Award Ceremony 2022 “Starry Night” took place at “Ventspils Jaunrades nams”, where the most outstanding students, staff and memorable events in the life of the University were announced and congratulated. 

 

In this festive event awards were presented in various nominations:

 

  • Student of the year - Linda Auziņa and Aksels Ķirsons;
  • Freshman of the year - Krista Lange;
  • International student of the year - Maeva Fresneau;
  • Faculty of Information Technologies professor of the year - Jānis Šate;
  • Faculty of Translation Studies professor of the year - Rafael Martin Calvo;
  • Faculty of Economy and Management professor of the year - Kārlis Krēsliņš;
  • Administration employee of the year - Lāsma Lubāne;
  • Event of the year - Freshman initiation 2022;
  • Legend of the year - Anna Ģērmane;
  • Mess of the year – Student Council;
  • Saying of the year - "Let’s stay just friends!"

 

At the event the winner of the Professor Andris Klaus Scholarship, whose patron is Ventspils University of Applied Sciences graduate Mārtiņš Lauva, was also announced. For the ninth year, the scholarship is awarded to a university student who has proven to be a successful, socially active and responsible student. This year, in the competition of 27 students, the prize was awarded to Sanita Lasmane, a PhD student and lecturer at Ventspils University of Applied Sciences. 

 

In the award ceremony Ventspils folk dance group “Liedags”, as well as students from Ventspils High School of Music featured various performances. 

 

The award ceremony took place at 6 PM, however at 8 PM the event continued with the Christmas ball, where the band "Loud Silence" played until 2 AM.

 

The event was supported by the Ventspils Freeport Authority.
