The Young Translators' Schools came to an end
18th March marked the conclusion of the Young Translators' School at Ventspils University of Applied Sciences (VUAS) with its final session conducted by Sandija Skudra. At the end of the session, all 30 participants received certificates of completion, prepared by the VUAS Lifelong Learning Center.
The Young Translators' School started on 25th February. Over four weeks, it allowed students to learn more not only about translation but also about various topics related to intercultural communication. Machine translation, interpreting, and aspects of communication are just some of the topics covered by the experienced lecturers of the Faculty of Translation Studies of the VUAS – Astra Skrābane, Silga Sviķe, Guntars Dreijers, Aiga Bādere, Rafael Martin Calvo, Zane France, Sandija Skudra, and Vita Balama. Participants have positively evaluated their experience in the Young Translators' School, as it has helped them to gain a better understanding of whether to pursue a career as a translator or an international communication specialist in the future. It has also been a great opportunity to immerse themselves in their future field of study, such as “Translation and Language Technologies” and “International Communication”, even before graduating from high school.
The Young Translators' School was implemented in cooperation with the Ventspils Education Board.
