A new study program "Smart Technologies" has been developed at the University of Liepaja in cooperation with Ventspils University College within the project "Reducing the fragmentation of study programs and strengthening the sharing of resources at LiepU" (SO 8.2.1.0/18/A/010).

Project goal: to reduce the fragmentation of study programs and strengthen the sharing of resources by creating conceptually new quality study programs. Project implementation complies with SAM 8.2.1. defined specific support objective and is in accordance with the strategic objectives of Latvian higher education (Guidelines for the Development of Education 2014-2020; Guidelines for the Development of Science, Technology and Innovation 2014-2020). Current trends in the implementation of education policy envisage strengthening the areas of strategic specialization of higher education institutions, increasing the quality of studies and ensuring studies based on practice and research.


Project description: As a result of the project implementation, it is planned to reduce the fragmentation of study programs by reducing the number of study programs (it is planned to close 11 programs and create 3 new ones). Three study programs will be developed at Liepāja University - professional bachelor study program "Smart Technologies" in cooperation with Ventspils University College, professional bachelor study program "Environmental Innovation Technologies" and joint doctoral study program "New Media Art" with the School of Business, Art and Technology " RISEBA.


Project financing - 255,000 euros and state budget co-financing - 45,000 euros.


The project is planned to be implemented by September 30, 2023.
