Ventspils University College, in cooperation with the Italian partner META Group, the Latvian Venture Capital Association and the Estonian partner Baltic Innovation Agency, has been implementing the Leonardo Da Vinci Lifelong Learning Program project “Investor Readiness Training for Regional Ideas” since October 1, 2009. IRTRI) (contract No. LLP-LdV-TOI-2009-LV-008). In this program, Ventspils University College is the main partner that ensures project coordination and supervision. The overall goal of the project is to develop a knowledge transfer strategy based on Meta Group's existing experience in supporting entrepreneurs, thus facilitating their access to start-up capital. The project will develop a methodology for training young entrepreneurs to work with investors. The project consists of seven work phases, two of them, project coordination and dissemination of results, will last throughout the project. The other five stages, in turn, include an analysis of the situation in the regions and a study of the need for training in order to be able to carry out training, the development of teaching materials and the improvement of the curriculum in a better way, taking into account regional needs. The last phase of the project involves pilot training and the improvement of the training program using pilot training findings. This project will have a positive impact on the Latvian capital market by providing new training programs so that entrepreneurs can find suitable investors, thus increasing their opportunities to access venture capital.
