On May 9–10, 2024, the international electronics competition EIFTronic 2024 took place in Vilnius, Lithuania, where the Ventspils University of Applied Sciences electronics student team achieved an honorable fourth place.
The Ventspils University team consisted of first-year students from the Professional Bachelor's Program in "Electronics Engineering" – Edgars Rajevskis, Marta Dzelme, and Vineta Liliana Dudone. The students were accompanied by Faculty of Information Technology lecturer Matīss Maltisovs.
The competition required all participants to complete a theoretical test, followed by individual practical tasks for each team member. This year, Marta Dzelme tackled embedded programming tasks using Raspberry Pi, Vineta Liliana Dudone worked on connecting an electrical circuit and measuring/calculating its operational parameters, while Edgars Rajevskis completed the practical task of assembling and soldering a digital clock.
EIFTronic is an annual international competition for electronics students. This year marked the return of Ventspils University students to the competition after a four-year hiatus.
