Everyday Life of a Student in the Bachelor's Degree Programme "Computer Science"

May 31, 2022

Students' daily lives consist not only of studying, but also of hobbies, events and often work. Igors is an active freshman from the bachelor's level study programme "Computer Science". He says that his daily life has settled into a steady rhythm that allows him to get everything done every day.

When Igors wakes up, he does his morning stretch. This is followed by a rather powerful breakfast. It's mostly omelette, bacon and pancakes, but sometimes he substitutes pancakes for cottage cheese. Mondays and Tuesdays are devoted entirely to lectures - mostly math, as it tends to be challenging. On the other days he works, because his studies are organized in such a way that they can be combined with work. In his free time, Igors also manages to do a few homework assignments.

In the evening, Igors rushes to volleyball practice. It should be mentioned that volleyball training is free for all students at VUAS, and Igors, as the sports coordinator of the Student Council, is responsible for creating the sports schedule. After the training there is also time for studying and a few games with classmates and friends. Most of the time they play cards and board games, which allow them to relax and laugh after a busy day.

Dear colleagues and friends, Last Thursday marked a dark moment in the history of Europe and the world as we became witness of a brutal and unprovoked act of war by Russia against a sovereign nation in the centre of Europe - Ukraine. We are deeply saddened by this. We at Ventspils University of Applied Sciences stand with the people of Ukraine at this difficult time and join the international community in condemning on the strongest possible terms the act of illegal aggression. We are prepared to offer every possible support within our means to staff, researchers and students at your institution. We are open look into the possibility to host your staff shorter or longer for periods of time. Once again - we stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine and our thoughts are with all those directly or indirectly impacted by this invasion. Yours sincerely, Dr. Karlis Kreslins Rector of the Ventspils University of Applied Sciences Foto: Shutterstock
