Ilze Jaunzeme, a 3rd year student of the Bachelor's study programme "Translation and Language Technology" at the Faculty of Translation Studies, participated in the 11th International Baltic Student Conference "Bridges in the Baltics", which took place in Vilnius on 4 and 5 October, with the largest number of participants in the history of the event. Our student presented her research on the cultural and linguistic meanings of the blue colour.
Ilze herself says: "I wanted to participate to help me prepare for my bachelor thesis and to gain valuable experience. I like to test the limits of my abilities. All the participants were students, I was among my peers, and that gave me a feeling of confidence. I am glad to learn about the diversity of student research, it will inspire me to keep up my studies and continue to do more. I should add that the organisers partially refunded travel and accommodation expenses; student involvement is really appreciated and supported. I also received a certificate of participation at the end of the conference. Next year's conference will be held in Riga - I will have to think of a good reason to attend this conference again. I hope that the students of Ventspils University of Applied Sciences will also take the opportunity to participate in an international student event here in Latvia. It is really worth participating, and it is free of charge."
