Last week, students and staff of Ventspils University of Applied Sciences welcomed the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary to Latvia, H.E. Mr. György Urkuti, together with the Embassy's Attaché for Foreign Economic Affairs, Mr Péter Soltész, as part of a regional visit. Mr Soltész welcomed the students with a fascinating lecture on the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which is running from 1 July to 31 December 2024.
During his visit, the Ambassador met with undergraduate and postgraduate students and lecturers, discussing not only the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, but also other issues of interest to students related to Europe, politics, diplomacy and the European Union.
During the visit, an exhibition on the inventions and achievements of Hungarian scientists was also presented in the library of Ventspils University of Applied Sciences. Everyone is welcome to visit the VUAS library to see inventions and discoveries such as transparent beton, tekbol and the Rubik's Cube!
Finally, Mr Ambassador highly appreciated the insightful questions from our students and the fascinating discussions that took place during the lecture.
At the end of the day, H.E. Mr. György Urkuti and his colleague visited our unique science educational centre, the Ventspils International Radio Astronomy Centre in Irbene.
