FTS Lecturer Participates in International Conference in Daugavpils
Assistant professor and leading researcher of the Faculty of Translation Studies, Egita Proveja, participated in the international humanities conference “January Readings” at Daugavpils University on January 30 and 31, which this year celebrated its 35th anniversary. The conference brought together 84 researchers from eight countries, introducing listeners to their research in humanities fields such as comparative literature, contrastive linguistics, translation studies, regional studies, oral history research, cultural studies, etc.
The plenary session of the January Readings was dedicated to DU emeritus professor, philologist, DU rector (2002–2007), Honorary Daugavpils Citizen Dr. habil. philol. Zaiga Ikere, who has dedicated more than 40 years to academic and scientific work at Daugavpils University.
Egita Proveja presented her research “Historical Polemics about Translation: Argumentation in a Contrastive Aspect” in the section “Baltic Languages: Synchrony and Diachrony”. Considering the established cooperation between the two universities in the joint doctoral study program “Language and Literature Studies” implemented at VUAS, DU, and RTU Liepāja Academy, it is commendable that VUAS doctoral students can remotely familiarize themselves with the work results of experienced and emerging researchers. In addition to participating in the conference section work, new cooperation opportunities and forms in the jointly implemented doctoral study program were discussed with DU colleagues.
