Graduation Ceremony Held at Ventspils University of Applied Sciences, with Awards Presented to the Best Students
On June 18, a graduation ceremony was held in the garden of Ventspils University of Applied Sciences. At the 2022 summer graduation, 126 graduates of Ventspils University of Applied Sciences received their diplomas, of which 6 received a first-level professional higher education diploma, 79 received a bachelor's degree, and 41 received a master's degree.
The ceremony was attended by Jānis Vītoliņš, Chairman of the Ventspils City Council, Kārlis Krēsliņš, Rector of Ventspils University of Applied Sciences, as well as other VUAS employees, graduates and their relatives. The event was hosted by actor and TV presenter Andris Bulis, with musical accompaniment provided by musician Goran Gora.
Kārlis Krēsliņš, Rector of Ventspils University of Applied Sciences, and Una Libkovska, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, also congratulated the most outstanding graduates. This year, 16 graduates received recognition:
- Kristers Dēnavs – bachelor's degree program in "Electronics Engineering"
- Roksolana Amarova – master's degree program in "Electronics"
- Elīna Šime-Pilāne – first-level higher education study program in "Programming Specialist"
- Linards Muižnieks – Bachelor's degree program in "Computer Science"
- Devids Soročinskis – Bachelor's degree program in "Computer Science"
- Rohit Gupta – Bachelor's degree program in "Computer Science" (in English)
- Gints Jasmonts – Master's degree program in "Computer Science"
- Rihards Ulmanis – Bachelor’s degree program "Business Management"
- Suzan Nompumelelo Zungu – Master’s degre program "International Business and Export Management"
- Līga Leite – Master’s degree program "Business Management"
- Simona Staņislavčika – Master’s degree program "Business Management"
- Agate Freiberga – Bachelor’s degree program "Translation" with specialization in German.
- Linda Ozola-Ozoliņa – Bachelor’s degree program "Translation" with specialization in English.
- Jolanta Žaklīna Dudone – Bachelor’s degree program "Translation" with specialization in English.
- Helēna Rožkalne – Bachelor’s degree program "Intercultural Communication"
- Sintija Jagmina – Master’s degree program "Translation of Applied Texts"
Among the graduates of Ventspils University of Applied Sciences were 10 employees of VUAS, who received awards of gratitude. Words of praise were given to Dace Štefenberga, Head of the Science and Development Department and Doctoral School at Ventspils University of Applied Sciences, who recently obtained a doctorate in economics and shared her excitement. Meanwhile, Jānis Vītoliņš, Chairman of the Ventspils City Council, presented a letter of appreciation for his contribution to the development of Ventspils University of Applied Sciences to Andrejs Jaunzems, a long-time professor at Ventspils University of Applied Sciences. Andrejs Jaunzems has been a lecturer at Ventspils University of Applied Sciences for 25 years and, upon receiving the award, said that he feels happy to have spent 50 years of his life at the blackboard as a lecturer and is grateful to fate for having been able to do work that he loves.
