Guest Professor from University of Niš will lead a seminar for lecturers and students of VUAS
Within the scope of the project “Strengthen the Academic Staff of the Ventspils University of Applied Sciences in Areas of Strategic Specialisation” implemented by Ventspils University of Applied Sciences (VUAS), cooperation has been formed with foreign Assistant Professor Violeta Stojićić (Serbia).
Violeta Stojićić, Assistant Professor at the Department of English at the University of Niš, is a Guest Professor at the VUAS from May till December of this year and will give lectures and lead the seminar “Excellence in higher education” during September and October.
During the seminar, we will be able to explore the University of Niš, its internationally recognised lectures and practical courses. In its 50 years of existence, the university has made a research journal, “FACTA UNIVERSITIES SERIES: LINGUISTICS AND LITERATURE”, edited by Violeta Stojićić. Her scientific interests are extensive: cognitive linguistics, functional grammar, lexicology of the English language, methodology of distance education, recent trends in English literature research, etc. Here, at VUAS, Violeta Stojićić will conduct a seminar, both in person and online, for everyone.
Programme of the seminar “Excellence in higher education”:
- 50 years of University of Niš: reflections on the achievements and prospects of the English department;
- Profformance – a project aimed at improving the professional competence of university lecturers;
- Service-learning or how to maintain sustainability within education in a constantly changing environment.
The total cost of the project “Strengthen the Academic Staff of the Ventspils University of Applied Sciences in Areas of Strategic Specialisation” (No. 8.2.2.0/18/A/009): 1,198,792.15 EUR and the planned amount of the European Social Fund is 85.00 % of the eligible expenditure – 1,018,973.33 EUR, and the amount of central government funding is 15 % of the eligible expenditure – 179,818.82 EUR.
