Researchers’ Night 2025
On September 26th, European Researchers’ Night events will take place all across Latvia, with higher education institutions and research centres hosting open-house events offering a wide range of free public activities and events. From 6 PM to 10 PM, join researchers from Ventspils University of Applied Sciences and VIRAC at VIZIUM Science Centre to explore star formation processes, comets, and other small Solar System bodies. Guests will get to participate in trivia quizzes, play different language games, as well as observe stars and planets through telescopes.

Topic: "Exploring the Solar System’s Most Fascinating Small Bodies"
Guests will be introduced to Small Solar System Bodies, including comets, asteroids, dwarf planets, and natural satellites. The presentation will integrate 3D visualisations showing how comet tails form from gas and dust in different space conditions.

Topic: "How Stars Are Born"
Explore star forming processes, as well as test your knowledge in our trivia quiz to win prizes. Telescopic observation of stars and planetary bodies will be available throughout the event.
All evening long:
- Virtual-reality exploration of Irbene Radio Telescope grounds, including video footage.
Note: Personal mobile devices can be connected to the VR experience. Content from VR headsets will be showed to large displays.
- Play Languages Detectives: Spot impostor words in foreign languages, identify false friends, and discover translation fails from machine translation tools.
- Industrial robot demonstration.
