Students from the Faculty of Translation Studies participated in the European Language Festival
On September 19th, the National Library of Latvia hosted the second European Language Festival, organised by the Representative Office of the European Commission in Riga, to celebrate the European Day of Languages. This year, the Faculty of Translation Studies at Ventspils University of Applied Sciences participated in the major event alongside other institutions, represented by bachelor's study programme students in Translation and Language Technologies, Sindija Plotniece, Paula Keiša, Alise Neilande, Sanija Zundovska, and Ilze Jaunzeme, together with the programme’s director, Aiga Bādere, as well as master's study programme’s Translation and Terminology student, Sabīna Brauna.
Throughout the day, festival participants from across Latvia could explore over 30 exhibition stands presented by language education centres, embassies, higher education institution, and various organisations. Participants were able to engage in educational activities and a variety of language-themed quizzes, while stage events featured linguistic talks and vibrant cultural performances. Participants could also join speed-language sessions to challenge or refresh their linguistic skills.
Students cherished the festival experience, as the day was spent in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, taking participants through conversations, educational games, multilingual activities, and promoting the translation studies at Ventspils University of Applied Sciences.
