Ventspils University of Applied Sciences Holds Winter Graduation Ceremony for Master’s Program in ''Translation of Applied Texts''
On March 11 this year, the Ventspils University of Applied Sciences library celebrated the winter graduation, congratulating three graduates of the master's program "Translation of Applied Texts" – Baiba Grīnvalde-Bricīte, Anna Rudzīte, and Anna Šēfere.
Over the course of three semesters, the students proved themselves to be capable representatives of the field of translation, as evidenced by the relevance of their master's thesis topics and their individual academic achievements.
Baiba Grīnvalde-Bricīte's master's thesis addressed a very topical and yet unexplored topic – the impact of ergonomic factors on the work of Latvian translators. The conscientiousness, precision, and diligence of the new master's graduate are also characterized by the fact that she was always reliable, responsive, and goal oriented.
Anna Rudzīte focused her research work on the translation of music textbooks. On April 22, 2022, she participated in the International Student Conference "Journey Through Cultures and Languages," organized by Novi Sončas State University of Applied Sciences and the Faculty of Translation Studies at Ventspils University of Applied Sciences, demonstrated excellent analytical skills and moderating abilities, leading the section and representing the university.
Anna Šēfere took a research-based look at tourism, a field that is a way of spending free time for a large part of society. Anna excelled at tackling the challenges involved in terminology work, and the results of her work have already been reviewed by the Terminology Commission of the Latvian Academy of Sciences.
During the event, Professor Kārlis Krēsliņš, Rector of Ventspils University of Applied Sciences, reminded graduates that this program is accredited for participation in the European Commission's EMT cooperation network, which gives the diploma additional value.
