Alexey Klokov, Director of the Ventspils International Radio Astronomy Centre (VIRAC) of the Ventspils University of Applied Sciences participated in the ECS Brokerage Event held in Brussels, Belgium, on February 7–8 this year. This event brought together representatives from the electronic components, systems, and technology industry associations, along with scientists and experts, to facilitate collaboration and support the research community in accessing and preparing information and project proposals.
This year, a record 440 participants took part in the event, while 1512 partners with 466 research, project and partnership ideas registered on the event's electronic platform and partner list https://ecscollaborationtool.eu/. Latvia was represented by 22 partners.
As part of the mission, VIRAC Director Alexey Klokov delivered a presentation titled "Overview of VIRAC and Its Potential Project Ideas", and, in line with the objectives of the project “Support for Preparation of Ventspils University of Applied Sciences International Cooperation Projects in Research and Innovations (ATVASE)”, No. 1.1.1.5/18/I/009, presented VIRAC’s potential research directions through poster displays and promoted the centre’s activities.
In addition to the aforementioned activities, during the ECS Brokerage Event, Alexey Klokov held individual meetings with potential collaborators. These networking activities with ECS researchers, scientists, and companies were aimed at fostering the development of new research ideas, directions, and innovative technologies, supporting the preparation of project proposals under Horizon Europe, the European Space Agency, and other international frameworks, as well as identifying collaborative solutions to some of the most pressing technological challenges faced by VIRAC.
These activities were carried out within the framework of the project “Support for Preparation of Ventspils University of Applied Sciences International Cooperation Projects in Research and Innovations (ATVASE)”, No. 1.1.1.5/18/I/009, and were funded by the project.
