Employees of Ventspils University of Applied Science were honoured for their contributions
On December 18, VUAS held its Christmas event, where employees were recognized for their long-standing service. Representatives from the Ventspils City Council also attended the event and presented certificates of appreciation to long-serving faculty members of VUAS and representatives of the founding group who made significant contributions to the university’s operation and development.
The following individuals received certificates of appreciation:
Dr. philol. Jānis Sīlis – He began his work at VUAS since its founding. Notably, he was a member of the founding group of VUAS and has served as the Dean of the FoTS, a professor, and a leading researcher.
Dr. philol. Valda Rudziša – She also started her work at VUAS since its inception. Valda Rudziša was a member of the founding group and played a crucial role in the establishment and development of the university. She has led translation study programs, ensuring their quality and inclusion in international networks. She has been actively involved in administrative and academic work, contributing to the sustainability of the university and excellence in education.
Dr. philol. Astra Skrābane – A long-standing Associate Professor, leading researcher, and Acting Dean at the FoTS, who has made significant contributions to the vitality of VUAS’s linguistics and cultural direction, as well as the development of higher education, science, and culture, with a focus on intercultural integration.
Dr. paed. Vita Balama – Vita Balama, starting her work at VUAS in 2000, has made a significant contribution to the development of intercultural studies by developing and managing bachelor and master programmes that provide students with modern and practical education. Her work in international scientific activities and the university’s decision-making bodies has contributed to the development of the academic environment and the international recognition of the university.
Dr. philol. Guntars Dreijers – An outstanding expert in linguistics and the translation industry, Guntars Dreijers has been part of VUAS since 2002, holding positions as a researcher, lecturer, associate professor, and dean. He has made a significant contribution to course development, scientific work, and student education, promoting the university’s development.
VUAS continues its tradition of honouring and expressing gratitude to colleagues who celebrated significant work anniversaries in 2024.
