Ventspils University of Applied Sciences, in collaboration with the Ventspils Education Board, invites all students from grades 8 to 12 who are interested in languages to gain insight into translation and intercultural communication by joining the sessions of the Young Translators' School. The first session will take place on March 9!
The Young Translators' School welcomes young individuals who are curious about translation and intercultural communication and wish to either gain an initial understanding or deepen their knowledge and skills. This is an excellent opportunity to experience a potential future field of study even before graduating from high school.
The sessions will be conducted by experienced lecturers from the Faculty of Translation Studies at Ventspils University of Applied Sciences: Astra Skrābane, Silga Sviķe, Guntars Dreijers, Aiga Bādere, Diāna Neimane, Rūta Maltisova, Ineta Kalniņa, and Ieva Zunde. Participants will meet with these lecturers on four Saturdays: March 9, 16, 23, and April 6.
During the sessions, participants will gain an understanding of the translator and interpreter professions, where theoretical aspects will intertwine with adventure stories and practical advice from industry experts. Communication and intercultural communication fundamentals, which often play a significant role in translation, will also be explored.
