Student Council’s Spring Ball

Jun 06, 2022

On 27 May this year, the Student Council’s Spring Ball took place, the first one of its kind since the start of the 2020 pandemic. Not only students, but also alumni and VUAS staff gathered to celebrate the end of spring and the beginning of summer at the Ventspils Jaunrades nams.

After a two-year hiatus, the Student Council (SC) representatives realised that they could not wait until Christmas, when the ball is traditionally organised, and had to organise it now. Within a month, the team organised the biggest spring party in the history of VUAS. The party featured artūrs jauntēvs with the band, who ensured that the most popular Latvian outdoor ball songs were played throughout the evening, to the accompaniment of which everyone had the opportunity to dance until the early hours of the morning.

The organisers of the event admit that it was really challenging to organise a ball in such a short time, but thanks to patience and hard work, the event was a success and was appreciated by the guests - students, lecturers, the Rector of the University and also Erasmus+ exchange students.

Dear colleagues and friends, Last Thursday marked a dark moment in the history of Europe and the world as we became witness of a brutal and unprovoked act of war by Russia against a sovereign nation in the centre of Europe - Ukraine. We are deeply saddened by this. We at Ventspils University of Applied Sciences stand with the people of Ukraine at this difficult time and join the international community in condemning on the strongest possible terms the act of illegal aggression. We are prepared to offer every possible support within our means to staff, researchers and students at your institution. We are open look into the possibility to host your staff shorter or longer for periods of time. Once again - we stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine and our thoughts are with all those directly or indirectly impacted by this invasion. Yours sincerely, Dr. Karlis Kreslins Rector of the Ventspils University of Applied Sciences Foto: Shutterstock
