The journal of translations and creative works, “Prožektors 2”, is available to everyone
The presentation of the student and professor translation and creative writing magazine “Prožektors 2” was held on September 29 at the Ventspils University of Applied Sciences student lounge. “Prožektors 1” was published two years ago but was put on hold due to the pandemic. Now it’s back with a fresh new look and renewed energy, officially registered with an ISBN – proof that it’s here to stay.

The event was part of the university’s 25th anniversary celebrations and it also honored Saint Jerome — patron saint of translators and interpreters — in recognition of International Translation Day, which is celebrated on September 30. Saint Jerome, who translated the Bible and is known in German as Kirchenvater (Church Father), is widely seen as a foundational figure in the development of European languages. Linguists know well that the Bible’s translation played a key role in the development of Europe’s national languages. At the Faculty of Translation Studies, this day is celebrated every year as a special occasion for both future professionals (students) and current ones (lecturers).
